Sound Expert Talks to Tracy Pattin (Part 1)

It can be pretty tough to know where to start as a voice over actor, especially when it comes to recording from your home:

Sound Expert Talks to Tracy Pattin (Part 1)

Of particular relevance to me is getting a space that’s dead to sound.  I have a few technical challenges to work out as well.  However, I can have all the best equipment in the world, but if my home studio gives lousy quality, I just won’t be able to get the kind of work I want.

To Voice, or Not to Voice

For what seems like a long time, I’ve grappled with the desire to do acting as a serious, vocational pursuit.  It has been a long time in coming, but I have finally taken a step in that direction!

So why do voice acting?  Acting has been a dream of mine for years and years!  Voice acting in particular seems a natural choice for me, at least at the moment.  I love to use my voice–just in general–so this really does seem like the best course for me to take.  Also, if my emotions surrounding voice acting are any indication at all, this is the right thing for me to do at the moment. :)

I still have a lot of work to do before I really get going.  I’ve got a few things set up or underway: this website (still needs to be themed!); the decided course I will take (character acting, which lends itself to animation and video games); audio equipment (may still need to reevaluate my current choice of computer).  I need to get some demos together as well as a nice contact list!

The only character I really have at the moment is an New York eye-talian guy.  According to my coach, my path to success will involve immersing myself in that character, and developing him so that he is very strong.  Then, I will create another character, and develop him, and the goal will be to become flexible enough to switch between characters.

As I develop my demos, I will make them available on the site.  Until then, wish me luck!
